...so we took a moment to reflect on the Young Professional of the Year Award’s legacy of celebrating emerging talent
CELEBRATION
Nominations are now open for the 2025 Waste Innovation & Recycling Awards.
This will be the fourth year REMONDIS Australia has sponsored the Young Professional of the Year Award.
We firmly believe that when we identify and celebrate the young high achievers in our industry, we change what leadership looks like… and open the door to a more diverse, more inclusive industry. When we celebrate excellence in our industry we create opportunities for more of the same, and better. It’s great for our sector, and pretty magical for the young professionals who make the shortlist each year.
With that in mind, we thought it was time to recap the finalists and winners since the Award was launched in 2018.

Nominations now open
The Young Professional of the Year Award is given to an individual aged 35 years or younger at the date of nominations closing, who has impressed their colleagues and counterparts with their contribution and impact to their organisation, and excellence in service.
The criteria are:
- How has the individual excelled in their role to date and what sets them apart from their peers?
- What initiatives of significant impact has the individual championed within and/or beyond the organisation?
- How has the individual shown exceptional leadership skills within the organisation?
The only downside of sponsoring this award is that REMONDIS can’t nominate our own talented team members! But we can encourage others to consider the criteria and take a look around at the talent in your own operations – or nominate yourself.
Nominations close on Monday 25 August 2025. The shortlist will be announced shortly afterwards and the winner will be announced at Waste Expo Australia in Melbourne on 29 October.
