COMMUNITY
Building collaborative partnerships with local business and community groups underpins the success of the public-access resource management facilities we operate on behalf of the ACT Government.
In that spirit, this year we began a collaboration with a local ACT charity, Roundabout Canberra.
Roundabout helps the local community with a particular focus on young families in need. They deliver goods to new mums and dads, and provide support to families under pressure when their children start school.
The ACT team have started by assisting Roundabout with their waste and recycling requirements and will also be working with them on their sustainability approach. Our first collaborative sustainability initiative is to provide the Roundabout team with a metal recycling bin for donated metal items which are damaged, and which can now be recovered rather then sent to landfill.
Another avenue of support is placing Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) bins in the REMONDIS ACT team's lunchrooms, with the rebate being given straight to Roundabout. Most of our local teams, in branches, depots and processing facilities right across Australia, have a similar program in place in support of the charities close to their hearts.
Hannah Andrevski, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Roundabout Canberra, is excited about the partnership.
She recently said “At Roundabout Canberra, we know that supporting local families goes hand in hand with looking after our environment. This collaboration with REMONDIS helps us do both – keeping our warehouse safe and efficient while promoting genuine circular economy practices. We’re so grateful to have REMONDIS on board, not just as a waste management provider, but as a true community partner helping us deliver practical, local impact.”
The whole ACT team is excited about this program, and Regional Manager Shane Merry is delighted by the opportunity to work closely with a charity important to the local community.
"It’s a fantastic opportunity for REMONDIS to support a charity which has made such a positive impact to so many local families. This charity really hits home for all our employees as we all have a family and can appreciate what people go through when the going gets tough."
We'll keep you posted as each initiative comes to life.

Roundabout Canberra is a volunteer-driven charity that provides safe, high-quality baby and children’s items to families in need, working through partnerships with social services to ensure dignity and support. Their mission is to relieve pressure on families by supplying essentials (such as clothes, gear, and nursery goods) so that broader support services can focus on other critical needs. They also accept donations of goods, money and time, and offer support to social workers or agencies seeking items for their clients.
