ADVOCACY

On 22 October, REMONDIS proudly participated in an industry showcase at NSW Parliament House for the launch of the Friends of Parliament for Circular Economy group.

The event, launched by NSW Minister for the Environment Penny Sharpe, brought together Members of Parliament from both Government and Opposition with the shared goal of accelerating the state’s transition toward a more circular economy.

REMONDIS Australia's General Manager NSW Ben Hope and National Business Development Manager Dan Crawford joined other industry leaders and innovators to highlight practical pathways for sustainability across NSW. Throughout the event, MPs and their staff visited the REMONDIS exhibit to discuss a wide range of topics, from the future of soft plastics recycling and textile recovery to coffee waste valorisation and FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) processing.

“It’s encouraging to see genuine collaboration between policymakers and industry on issues that impact every household and business. Events like this show that circular economy thinking is no longer theoretical; it’s actionable, and it’s happening now,” said Ben Hope.

The showcase, organised by the Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association (WCRA), served as a valuable platform for industry and government to connect and share ideas on how to reduce waste, improve material recovery, and drive investment in sustainable infrastructure.

For REMONDIS, the event reinforced the our ongoing commitment to building a more circular future, one where waste is viewed not as a burden, but as a resource. By closing material loops and designing smarter recovery systems, circularity becomes a core part of how New South Wales can meet both environmental and economic goals.

We look forward to more such events, and to contributing our expertise to help shape a cleaner, more sustainable future for NSW.
