COMMUNITY
When Nespresso asked REMONDIS to help with a video shoot demonstrating Nespresso's coffee pod recycling partnership with hotel group Accor, we were delighted to help.
The resulting short video, filmed at our resource recovery facility at Tomago in the Hunter Region of NSW, tells the story of how used pods from hundreds of Accor's hotels are processed into re-usable aluminium and organics – with more than a little help from REMONDIS.
Our specialised Integrated and Managed Services team (REMONDIS IMS) manages the complex logistics of used coffee pod collections for Nespresso, and the team at REMONDIS Tomago Resource Recovery Facility receives the pods for processing, from right across Australia. Take a look at this video and see it for yourself.

Here's an edited transcript from the video:
David Young, Director of Sustainability, Accor:
The team here at REMONDIS, together with Nespresso, are doing an amazing job of collecting hundreds of thousands of coffee pods throughout our hotels to extract the coffee and recycle the aluminium here in New South Wales.
Camila Pineros, Sustainability Manager, Nespresso:
We are really happy and glad to have Accor in our recycling facility so they can see the recycling process firsthand. At Nespresso, recycling is important for us because we believe in circularity. We have a dedicated recycling program to make it possible for our customers to recycle their capsules. Aluminium is baled and returned to the aluminium industry, while coffee grounds are transformed into compost and used in sil mix for landscaping.
Xuly Siu, Senior Category Manager, Accor:
We have got over 450 hotels in Accor Pacific. I'm sure together with Nespresso we are going to have some really, really great partnerships and achieve the sustainability goals that we've got together.
David Young:
Thanks to Nespresso and REMONDIS for all the great work, we're making a real difference. It makes a big part of our strategy to reduce waste everywhere we operate.
