About us

Graduate Program

REMONDIS Australia's Graduate Program

Because we are actively working toward a better future in which waste is a resource, REMONDIS believes in investing in new talent – as our well-established national Graduate Program demonstrates.

We appreciate that the Australian employment market places great value on experience and it can be a challenge for graduates to break into the workforce without sufficient relevant experience. Our Graduate Program provides a pathway to professional employment for recent graduates with educational and interpersonal profiles aligned to our strategic goals, regardless of their prior work experience.

What does REMONDIS Australia’s Graduate Program involve?

During the course of our two year Program, Graduates have an opportunity to experience different aspects of our organisation working in six month rotations across a range of business units and teams – broadly aligned with their qualification – and are given real responsibility from the start.

The rotation-based approach provides our Graduates with well-rounded experience across the business, plus the support and guidance to help them succeed in their placement and broader professional career.

When conditions permit – and we acknowledge COVID-19 has disrupted plans for our current intake of Graduates – our Graduates have the chance to undertake interstate or international (usually Germany or Western Europe) rotations. International rotations are typically for a duration of three months.

How long is the Program?

Two years, with four six-month rotations – although variations certainly occur as Graduates are matched to changing strategic business needs or undertake three month interstate or international rotations.

How do you recruit Graduates?

Our Graduate Program is advertised on job hunting websites including SEEK and LinkedIn.

Our Program is broadly bi-annual, with a fresh intake every two years. Our last intake was in January 2020.

Candidates undergo a recruitment and selection program that focuses on attitude, behaviour and cultural fit over level of experience. Whilst graduate selection numbers may vary from year to year, REMONDIS typically accepts 4 to 5 Graduates per intake.

What happens when the Program ends?

Following successful completion of the program, there is a high probability that Graduates will be offered a permanent full-time role in the business aligned with their qualification.

I haven’t graduated yet. What’s on offer at REMONDIS?

REMONDIS also provide part-time employment opportunities for tertiary education students to develop their work experience complementary to their field of study. These opportunities are provided outside of the formalised structure of our Graduate Program and arranged on an individual basis with the respective business unit.

“What attracted me most to apply for the program with REMONDIS was not only my passion for environmental sustainability, but the structure of the Graduate Program.”

Sophie Whelan // Business Graduate // Graduate Program intake 2019

“We have no Planet B. It’s very important to build technology that will cope with the changing behaviour of our society.”

Lucy Hazell // Technical Graduate // Graduate Program intake 2017

“I was given some extraordinary opportunities as a Graduate – including project managing the development of our multi-million-dollar Rocklea Resource Recovery Facility. I was proud to be trusted with the opportunity to make an impact, and to grow.”

Matthew Day // Graduate Program intake 2019 // In September 2020 Matthew was named a Young Professional of the Year Finalist in the national Waste Innovation & Recycling Awards
